Te Ao Hurihuri

Main Screen

The buttons:
hana - goes to our web site.
taonga - brings up additional content: Summer and winter star charts, moon phase information, planet information and the Hana sound mixer.
äwhina - brings you to the help page (in Mäori) clicking on the "Pänuitia te reo Ingarihi" button will bring you to the page you are now reading.
mahere paenga - is the site map. The plus and minus will enlarge and shrink the panel. Clicking on a picture will go to that screen. "töia" will drag the panel and "katia" will close it.
haere - will start the story. Make sure you have a sound card and your speakers are turned on (there's beautiful music, singing and a story being told!)

Once the story starts the following buttons become visible:
tömuri - will take you back to the previous screen.
tömua - will take you to the next screen.
whakamuri - rewinds to the start of the screen you are on.
oki oki - pauses the screen you are on.

Summer and Winter Star Charts (Mahere Whetü)

The buttons:
katia - closes the screen and goes back to the Te Ao Hurihuri story.
question mark symbol (?) - brings up a window with information about that starchart.

Operating the star chart viewer:
You can drag the triangle between the little mountains symbol (left) and the big mountains symbol (right) which will enlarge and shrink the star chart. When you have zoomed right in you can drag the red square to view that area of the star chart.

Moon Phases (Maramataka)

The buttons:
katia - closes the screen and goes back to the Te Ao Hurihuri story.
tömua - will take you to the next phase.
tömuri - will take you back to the previous phase.

Solar System (Te Whänau a Tama Nui Te Rä)

The buttons:
katia - closes the screen and goes back to the Te Ao Hurihuri story.
Rärangi Whakamärama - brings up a glossary.
Roll over each planet to view information about it.

Sound Mixer (Whakaranu Pouro)

The buttons:
katia - closes the screen and goes back to the Te Ao Hurihuri story.
kaha matua - is the master volume
square shape - stops the music
triangle shape - starts the music

Operating the sound mixer:
Each slider controls the volume of each track. Play with the settings to mix the music.
