The nanny goat that travelled the world on the Dolphin and then the Endeavour, provided not only milk and cheese, but also a few good stories. One account tells of a bold spirited youth being butted in the breeches; when he turned to see who had assaulted him, the goat was up on her haunches ready for another attack … the terrified boy leapt overboard and his companions followed.
